Empty City

You know, it's a funny thing.  When I was in Chicago, I was convinced that BKK was the greatest city in the world.  Hell, my family's looking to buy a condo here, and while I know they want it too, I'm pretty sure that the one who's pushing for it the most is me.  I'm certainly the most vocal about it.  And now as I sit here, I can't shake the feeling that I need to leave.

This is all funny largely because I figured that I would love living here even without all of you guys, which I guess is yet one more delusion I'd forced on myself.  Don't get me wrong, BKK's a wonderful place, but it has quite a few negatives that I never even thought about while you all were here.  I'd love to live here in future, but it's not quite as necessary as I once thought it was.

This also probably explains part of the reason I'm so eager to get some of you back for Christmas/New Year's.... Come on, you all--you know you want it too ;).  Seriously though.  It's not the same place without you, never will be, and I can't help the feeling that we're all just running out of time (this could be another delusion of course--we probably ran out about two years ago, and I'm just sitting here rambling like a fool).

In any case, I guess this is my way of saying (again!) that I miss you all, and want to see you again.  I'm heading back to Chicago in a week, and I'm sure I'll have a great time there, but it won't be home.  You jerks carry that around as part of you, hahaha.

Best,

-D

PS.  Isn't it great the morose crud I come up with at work? I think sitting in a swivel chair for hours on end has probably driven me a little nuts.

So I'm going political

Anyone notice my new theme?  I figured if I was gonna crank this up again, I needed a new face for it, and seing as how the elections are already big news in the US, I might as well get in on it.  Hehe, I haven't been excited about the Democratic party since 2000, so it's great to feel at least decent about them again.

And no, I haven't decided whether to vote for Clinton or Obama in the primaries....  I wouldn't mind either.

Beyond that, not much to say.  For those of you who don't know, I'm working at Chandler and Thong-ek, a law firm in BKK.  It's actually really hard work, and the hours seem to keep getting longer.  But hopefully it'll help me get into law school or something, eh?  God knows I need all the help I can get.

Fine.... Be that way.

Yes.  I did it.  I broke Sarina's car keys.

Shut up. I know you're laughing, and you need to stop.

Wow

Wow....my ability to procrastinate never ceases to amaze, heh heh.....

Anyways, the school year's basically done, and I'm packing like mad because my flight leaves in six hours....wow!!!  I'm on my way home!  I can't wait, it's going to be wonderful to be home again.

I don't know why, but I'm tired of Hyde Park, and seeing Suvarnabhumi's probably gonna be the best sight ever.

Oh, and for the record, for those of you who don't know, or could never believe it of me (including myself), I have joined a fraternity..... More explanation to follow when I have time.

Gerry just brought in about ten cheeseburgers from White Castle.  Will write more when they've been dealt with.
